Proper Documentation Including AES Filing, Shipping Instructions & VGM
Paperwork is necessary in exporting and documentation accuracy and completeness are vital. One missing form can stop your products cold, opening the door to a competitor. ARCA World Logistics can expertly manage the details of your shipment, including:
Automated Export System (AES) Filing
AES is the system U.S. exporters use to electronically declare their international exports, known as Electronic Export Information (EEI), to the Census Bureau to help compile U.S. export and trade statistics. It is mandatory for all shipments over $2500 in value to have an AES filing. Global protocols change frequently, so ARCA maintains perpetual knowledge of customs compliance and AES filing requirements.
SOLAS Weight Verification & Requirements
Major incidents and accidents, resulting from overweight containers, have prompted the international shipping community to take action in order to prevent incorrect weight declarations. The International Maritime Organization (IMO) in collaboration with industry representatives has, therefore, adopted specific rules as part of the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS) Convention.
Effective July 1, 2016, The IMO amended the SOLAS to require, as a condition for loading a packed container onto a ship for export, that the container has a verified weight. The Verified Gross Mass (VGM) requirements will impact the communication, infrastructure and processes of all participants in the supply chain. The time for having the VGM methodologies and requirements implemented is short and ARCA can help.
Shipping Instructions
ARCA can submit Shipping Instructions directly to the steamship line. A shipping instruction is a document advising details of cargo and exporter requirements of its physical movement. It provides all the information to manifest the Bill of Lading (BL).
